The Roll

600 Miles coming up this weekend in northern MN and WI. I’m cruising around with my bro-in-law and his buddies. They’re totally bagged out, Fuel injected, and are even rocking satellite radio and what not. There’s no way Im running at the front of the pack but hey… maybe they’ll carry my tools!

The motor is running good. Just put a little Loctite on a few bolts. Remounted the coil. Still need to swap belt drives and adjust shift linkage but that maybe 30 minutes. Im still missing a spare belt, points/condensor, instant coffee, and a cell charger but thats all last minute stuff anyway. Here’s the roll. Everything I think I’ll need with some random stuff mixed in. Hopefully all goes well cause I’ve got another 700 miles coming up in a couple more weeks. That shit is for later though.

Fathers Day in Minnesota

Woke up to a little corn beef and eggs with a side of black coffee and toast. Cruised over to Back to the 50’s car show for some swap meet action. Kind of a dead scene considering it was Sunday. I did see this gem of a Gasser parked somewhere just off the beaten path. I couldnt pass up getting a quick picture.

From there I went home and got out the bike. Took a ride over to the Blind Lizard cycle rally in Minneapolis to catch up with CT. Reinhart came limping in on his Triumph. Points were well beyond useless. Pretty Rick and the Monk happened to be in the crowd and decided to do the Minnesota thing and come over and get his points readjusted. After a little file action and a few swift kicks, the salty dog was up and running on two cylinders again. New points are being installed as I type.

Came home, napped for a hour, ate a sub, went back to bed. All in all – a good fathers day.

Yeah – for all my love for bikes, I’ve always had a soft spot for the occasional Vespa. I bought my first maybe 8 years ago from a naval yard. It was a 1971 Sprint 160 if I remember correctly. It was a pretty slick little scooter. Other than some bad points, that thing would rip up and down the club house parking lot. I found this one a couple years back when I was still in Boston. Everything was there but the body needed some serious work. I’ve probably spent the better half of this winter bang out all the dents and preping for paint.
