Midwest Shops & Garages

Midwest Shops & Garages Series. A new little feature we’re rolling out this winter. The idea is real simple. If you’re from the Midwest (or anywhere cold for that matter) you know that when the snow falls, the cycles, projects, shops, garages and hide outs are the place to be. We’re gonna visit some friends, check out their digs, and see what projects are in the mix.

No where to go and nothing to do but tear it down and put it back together. The first garage in the series will be coming up soon so be sure to check back.

You’re Steppin’ on My Dick

F*ck it. I cant take it anymore. I’m blowin’ the whistle here. What the hell is with all the fashionista, bullshit popping up on every ones cycle blogs lately? Seriously. I don’t give a rats left nut about someones super sweet vintage jeans, denim shirt, doo rags, boots, sunglasses, or what the shit ever else! It’s real simple see. NO FASHION SPREADS ALLOWED on MC SITES! All you’re doing is feeding into a littleĀ  thing called commercialization. In essence, you’re diluting what could continue to be a great cycle culture.

Okay ~ Okay – I completely understand and respect the necessity of selling personal swag like T’s and Caps in order to fund your personal adventures but when you’re pushing Lucky Brand shit simply because it’s geared towards a motorcyclist market, you’re just plain fuckin’ up son. I’d rather go naked than drop a beaner ($100) on a pair of jeans.

As for sites like Biltwell or Lowbrow… these sites are primarily retail first, and a blog second. They get a free pass cause in most cases they actually produce (or import) what they’re selling. In fact, these sites get a gold star because they’ve effectively tricked sites like ours into being part of a fuct pyramid scheme. I do get parts for personal projects at wholesale though so I guess it aint all that bad, right?

Understand me here. I’m not the fashion police by any means. But I can’t be the only one out there seeing this bullshit. Scratching my head saying “what-the-fuck?” The fact remains. I’ll will undoubtedly spend every dime I ever make from this site on the necessities of my future adventures. I will NOT get rich and I will NOT be famous. I will however let you know when you’re steppin’ on my dick.

I don’t need to name – names cause you know who you are and you know what you did.

Winter Projects – Shovelhead Transmission

Well… I’m all set with my winter projects. I just got a 4 speed ratchet top transmission for my shovelhead project. I picked it up as a cheapo rebuild. Original owner tore it down and couldnt put it back together (DUH). It got passed on to NE Rick on a trade and it sat at Ricks until I reminded him that he had it. Sweet deal. Ricks a cool fella. Lots of knowledge and Mountain Dew. Trans looks complete aside from a single missing o-ring. A few cents and a few hours to set it all back up and she’ll be ready to run.

Contact me if you have any of the following for sale. I’m interested in almost anything and we’re still a ways out from any Gringo and Mickeys action.

– Complete 3 finger clutch basket
– Any frames (regardless of condition)
– Cheap Velocity Stack style air cleaner
– Alternator
– Point or Electric Ignition

Twin Cities Swap Meet Aftermath!

So Speed Club Inc attended last weekends Gringo & Mickey’s Moto Psycho Swap Meet. From an enthusiasts standpoint, the event was a little short on vendors in comparison to the last years. I think it might have been because of Donnie Smith’s Bike show and Swap coming up in 2 weeks. In any event, we did pick up some really sweet junk for a couple projects and I managed to snap some photos for the chopper blog.

I found a great 45″ motor crammed into a milk crate. The guy wanted $1200 beans so I decided to pass. I also bumped into the Heavy-Clothing.com guys with a booth made out of Heavy t-shirts, twisted bars and shovelhead motors.
