Speed Club’s first love will always be cycles but when you’re given the gift of Back to the 50’s each year, how can you not take a moment to give the weekend it’s due respect and appreciation. Here are a few pics I snapped between hitting the swap and strolling through the car show. …enjoy.

Great question! It’s a little something the gang at Bluecat Motors recently came up with. It’s a monthly meet similar to first Thursdays where anyone and everyone came stop by the huge shop lot with your scoot, bobber, chopper, cafe racer, vintage, british or any other weird custom contraption you managed to put on the road this year! What a great idea – this winter wonderland could use more reasons to get that bike out for a night. Looks to be pretty cool so definitley come out and share the moto love. DID I MENTION THIRD THURSDAY IS TONIGHT! BlueCat Motors is located at 550 Vandalia Street just off of University in St Paul.
note: the woman in the picture below is my grandma.

Yeah – for all my love for bikes, I’ve always had a soft spot for the occasional Vespa. I bought my first maybe 8 years ago from a naval yard. It was a 1971 Sprint 160 if I remember correctly. It was a pretty slick little scooter. Other than some bad points, that thing would rip up and down the club house parking lot. I found this one a couple years back when I was still in Boston. Everything was there but the body needed some serious work. I’ve probably spent the better half of this winter bang out all the dents and preping for paint. Here’s a shot of all the body work almost ready for paint.

Stompin’ around out in the Midwest, you cant NOT stumble onto Zac Doom (or as I like to call Heavy Himself) and Heavy-clothing.com. This guy really represents for the Midwest Moto Culture. In fact, he recently made it to cover of Iron Horse Magazine. I’m definitely not the first guy to report on this but I had one of those 1 degree of separation moments this morning when Eric dropped off his bike to get some work done. Eric mentioned knowing Zac to some degree and I realized damn… this dude gets around. With that, I thought fitting to show him a little extra love via the Speed Club Chopper Blog.
Zac,
Congrats on the cover. Much love, respect and appreciation for keeping the midwest Heavy. Hope to see you around this year.

Two things I love… Bikes and Cars! There’s a guy down my street with a 1950 Chevy coupe. It’s one of those un-restored gem kinda cars. Granted, it sits outside all winter while the tires slowly deflate but come summer, the kid always manages to fire the beast back up for the typical Friday night cruise past Porky’s on University Ave. Anyways, this pic kinda reminds me of the neighbors whip.
I wouldn’t kick it out of the garage or anything but chrome Triumph’s are a clean freaks nightmare!
