Finally after a few too many weeks in the garage, Brian and Eric (a.k.a. XS Eric, a.k.a. Marvin the Minnow) got together last weekend to officially knock out the final fixes on Erics xs650 bar hopper. This thing is really something. Custom fame, 21″ front end with a beautiful rake, electronic ignition, forward controls, shorty drag pipes, and a good old banana caliper in the rear. This thing screams. More importantly, to celebrate the finished build, we got together on Monday night for a little race around the cities.
Great little video. Kinda odd music but I’m not judging. Have a look/listen for yourself. There’s more out there if you do a little soul searching. Dig it. Speed Club Approved. Welcome to the chopper blog.
Kung Fu Tap & Taco in Des Moines, Iowa is hosting a little get-together at their place including a taco eating contest, Dice Magazine merchandise, and Heavy-Clothing (shirts/hats. stickers, etc). I know there are some guys driving out from the Twin Cities so be there this Saturday, May 15. This event is definitely Speed Club approved.
About two to three times a season, me and a few others head up to good old Hayward WI for miles and miles of trails on the ATV’s. This year I’ve got Blue which is a much nicer ride than my last years whip. I’m planning on putting on some miles as long as the weather is good. Last season ended with me standing in a crapper stall barefoot as I rung out my socks over a toilet. Weather was about as cold as it could be and I think it was even snowing in some areas. We’ll probably hit up the LCO and even drop by the Hayward Ballet (Phipps Tavern) for a little light evening entertainment. Pics to come.
Stompin’ around out in the Midwest, you cant NOT stumble onto Zac Doom (or as I like to call Heavy Himself) and Heavy-clothing.com. This guy really represents for the Midwest Moto Culture. In fact, he recently made it to cover of Iron Horse Magazine. I’m definitely not the first guy to report on this but I had one of those 1 degree of separation moments this morning when Eric dropped off his bike to get some work done. Eric mentioned knowing Zac to some degree and I realized damn… this dude gets around. With that, I thought fitting to show him a little extra love via the Speed Club Chopper Blog.
Zac,
Congrats on the cover. Much love, respect and appreciation for keeping the midwest Heavy. Hope to see you around this year.
