Welcome to the chopper blog. I should point out that my personal preference is speed over looks. Not sure where I found these but where ever they came from, I love looking to them for design inspiration. It’s not Midwest but it will certainly do.
I met Doug about a year or more ago. I picked up a titled ’73 xs650 frame and motor from him via good old eBay for the low – low price of $100. We drove from Minneapolis, all the way out to Oak Grove to make the deal. Doug rolled this monster out of his garage while we were there. Talk about one fine piece of work. 19″ front and 18″ aluminum rear off an old dirt bike. Perfectly used Wassell tank, dual Miki carbs, bates seat, and he finished it off with one of those hard-to-find bicycle style kickers. Call it a Dirt Tracker or call it a bobber, this thing was the bike that got me turned on to xs650 chops. I actually saw this bike on ebay about 6+ months ago. Wonder if anyone ever picked it up? Doug – you rock. Midwest Moto Culture. Great job. Pleasure to add to the chopper blog.
A welcomed addition to the garage and the chopper blog! New steel rolled fender for the bobber project. Found it at last weekends swap meet. It’s got a really sweet duck tail on the end. Big thanks to Hans. Coming soon to a bike near me.
So Speed Club Inc attended last weekends Gringo & Mickey’s Moto Psycho Swap Meet. From an enthusiasts standpoint, the event was a little short on vendors in comparison to the last years. I think it might have been because of Donnie Smith’s Bike show and Swap coming up in 2 weeks. In any event, we did pick up some really sweet junk for a couple projects and I managed to snap some photos for the chopper blog.
I found a great 45″ motor crammed into a milk crate. The guy wanted $1200 beans so I decided to pass. I also bumped into the Heavy-Clothing.com guys with a booth made out of Heavy t-shirts, twisted bars and shovelhead motors.
Have you seen this or not? These guys haven’t posted much to youtube over the last year+ but when they do, it’s always pretty rad. If you’re hiding out at work looking to waste a few minutes on the computer, there are a few other videos of them out there worth hunting down. Check out the Cycle Zombie Blog here.
