Save A Buck ~ Fix it

The sh*t I’ll do to save some scratch is pretty low. My XS timing chain snapped on me while bombing back into the Twin Cities last September. After I pulled the top end off, I could see that the teeth on the cam were perfect. The crank sprocket on the other hand… DESTROYED. Not a single tooth left. Unfortunately, this crank sprocket is an obsolete part meaning I’m up sh*t creek. My options are wait it out forĀ  an old xs motor on Craigs list for around $100 beans or just swap the crank and buy a gasket set on eBay.

I went with the replacement crank and a gasket set. The crank ran me $1.99 and the gasket set… $60. Other than an hour of open heart surgery, at least I know I’m running a clean motor with new timing chain and gaskets. The top end was still well within tolerances so I’m gonna let sleeping dogs lie with that one.

Holy Sh*t – There I am! ~ KnuckleBusterinc.com

Holy shit – There I am! I was just cruising the chop sites and noticed that my xs650 videos made it onto Grail’s KnuckleBusterinc.com. Very cool. I’m pretty sure Grail is out of New England and his chopper blog definitely carries that flare. Check him out, lots of lathe tips and other great stuff.

Getting ready for the Lady

Here’s a pic of xs eric from a couple days ago. He’s knuckles deep in her. He’s been doing some custom wiring upgrades getting ready for this weekends Bearded Lady.

XS Eric’s Bike is Done!

Finally after a few too many weeks in the garage, Brian and Eric (a.k.a. XS Eric, a.k.a. Marvin the Minnow) got together last weekend to officially knock out the final fixes on Erics xs650 bar hopper. This thing is really something. Custom fame, 21″ front end with a beautiful rake, electronic ignition, forward controls, shorty drag pipes, and a good old banana caliper in the rear. This thing screams. More importantly, to celebrate the finished build, we got together on Monday night for a little race around the cities.

XS650’s in the Twin Cities

We’ve got lots of friends and visitors into these xs650 chops. This is a pic sent in by RL of his buddy Justin hard at work n his hardtail xs650. According to the info we received, this one is supposed to end up something like an ultra vintage chop. Custom Tank, hardtail, 18″ rear, etc. Keep us all posted. – Speed Club Chopper Blog.
