Eric’s XS650 bobber build – follow up.

Eric’s bike is coming along. Finally got the front wheel spaced out and the throttle/clutch assembly mounted and working. Still need to knock out the forward control linkage and make a new custom hydro brake line for the rear caliper. Fired up the motor today for the first time in maybe two years. Runs pretty strong and loud. Might need to update the exhaust later on for reliability sake.

First Thursday Minneapolis – Rain Out

What a bummer. Worked late at the shop last night and rolled the bike out to drive over. About half way there I got dumped on, turned it around and high tailed it back to the Speed Club Garage. Next month isn’t too far away.  There’s always next time. More pics for the chopper blog is always nice. Check back for more Midwest Moto Chopper Bobber pics and blog. We post daily. – SC

Oh Damn – Here comes the Harley Weasel

Proceed with the following commercial carefully. Do not be fooled. This is NOT brought to you by the dudes who did Harbortown or Choppertown. This is brought to you disguised as one of those documentaries.

Why didnt I think of hanging my signals under my bars and mounting a solo seat?… Oh wait – signals look stupid and I made my own seat. I like to think that my chopper and bobber enthusiasm ultimately has nothing to do with Harley Davidson. Yet – here comes HD trying to steal my thunder. Aint that some bullshit.

First Thursday – Tomorrow Night!

Just a reminder – Tomorrow night is First Thursday in Downtown Minneapolis at and around Dulono’s Pizza (Lake Street) in Uptown. Last months gathering was one for the record books. This month should rival last if the weather holds out.. Get that bike out and swing by for the festivities. As always – early birds get the primo spots. Speed Club will see you there. Who knows – Maybe your bike will show up on the chopper blog?

Machinery Hill Swap Meet – A Great Score

Woke up Sunday with a sore throat and a head cold. Ruined almost all my weekend plans. I noticed a sh*t load of hot rods whipping past the house on the way to the fairgrounds. Turns out the St Paul fairgrounds hosted another car extravaganza on Sunday. I grabbed some coffee for the throat, tossed the boy in the wagon and we walked over (I should mention we live near by the fairgrounds).

What a great score. I found another one of those hard-to-find Harley Sprint tanks which look amazing on almost any chopper or bobber. I also picked up a great red metal flake lid. It was pretty trashed inside but fits like a glove. Tossed everything into the wagon and headed home. Those car swaps are great for bike shopping. Since everyone is looking for car parts, you get the pick of the litter over any and all bike stuff. Dig it.
