Let the Work Begin!

Man, it’s not even winter and it looks like lots of folks are already attacking the motor work with the intensity of a thousand suns. I started my shovel rebuild a couple days ago. The jugs are .060 over making my 74″ motor roughly an 80″ motor when complete. Flywheel assembly turned out to be a pile of sh*t but that was all sorted out with Gators help. The bottom end should be done in about a week (The heads are another story.)

Spencer’s Triumph is already under way. Damn – I’m rooting for that guy. He’s got some serious heart. All said and done, he’ll be the triumph man by the time he comes out the other side.

Everyone get ready for that long, hard winter. Swap meets here I come.

Congrats Spencer & Pre-Tilt Party

Spencer has been hard at work all week trying to get his little Triumph rocking. After much frustration and late nights… she’s alive and actually ridable. It was a little touch and go there for a while but he managed to squeak the bike past the finish line early this evening. Check him out today at Full Tilt. Where exactly is full tilt at? Great questions. Victoria and Jefferson intersection in St Paul right next to Tav on the Ave. Be there. This will be Epic.

On a side note. It’s 1am and I’m at the shop downloading video and pics from the Pre-Tilt party. Steve lent me a really sweet Rode mic for my camera. Making me look all for serious and what not. Harpoon and Grant (Born Free/FMA) are here, Josh Kurpius and the Death Science crew made it, Eternal combustion is here along with a whole lot of other folks too. The show is all on the up and up. This thing will be quite the gathering.

Brothers from the North!

These are the folks we met who cruised all the way down to southern Cali from Vancover Canada! You should have seen it. Old Toyota right-side steering 4 cylinder diesel utility truck pulling a little 10ft air streamer that had apparently been struck with a baseball bat one or twice. These people were about the nicest folk we’d met in the entire trip. They’ve even got a little dirt moto scene going on which revolves around XT500’s. They won best unit Triumph with the mind melter pictured in the rear. Dig those freaked out bars.

I hope to see them again some time. Hopefully we can get them to stop out for the Bearded Lady or Full Tilt party!

Triumphs and Shotguns

Stayed an extra day on the way back in Kansas to visit with the Germans family. Sure enough, they gave us a shotgun and we rode out to the back 40. Everyone was having a blast. Jordan was a real killing machine. He hates those damn morning doves!

I was a little chopped the hell out when we left Cali but 4 days in a van has a way of making you crazy to want to get out a blast off all over again. I have tons of totally amazing pics to share so stay tuned to the chopper blog.

Fathers Day in Minnesota

Woke up to a little corn beef and eggs with a side of black coffee and toast. Cruised over to Back to the 50’s car show for some swap meet action. Kind of a dead scene considering it was Sunday. I did see this gem of a Gasser parked somewhere just off the beaten path. I couldnt pass up getting a quick picture.

From there I went home and got out the bike. Took a ride over to the Blind Lizard cycle rally in Minneapolis to catch up with CT. Reinhart came limping in on his Triumph. Points were well beyond useless. Pretty Rick and the Monk happened to be in the crowd and decided to do the Minnesota thing and come over and get his points readjusted. After a little file action and a few swift kicks, the salty dog was up and running on two cylinders again. New points are being installed as I type.

Came home, napped for a hour, ate a sub, went back to bed. All in all – a good fathers day.
