Trashed Tire

Misjudged the length of a bolt mounting my rear fender and it finally caught up with me. Gouged a perfectly good tire. Stupid little mistakes = $$$. Serves me right for making the mistake. At least the tire didnt shred while riding.

Two to Spare

RL came by last night and gave me a hand remounting the xs650 motor back in the bike. A quick process. We knocked out the timing, carbs, and wiring in about an hour and after some uneventful kicking, she eventually fired up for the first time since last September. Called it a done deal with two PBR’s to spare. I’ll revisit this thing in the spring to adjust the valves and timing and to mount a new rear fender but for now, this one is destine for storage.

CHOPOUT 2010 ~ unseen footage

Last seasons CHOPOUT 2010 unseen footage of Super-Bry in a hardware store parking lot remounting his rear fender. A little smooth talking at the parts counter led to borrowing a few tools free of charge. Some dude eventually strolled up and gave his kid a roadside lesson in good karma. Many thanks to that fella for rolling around on the ground and lending a helping hand to a stranger.

Picture Perfect Day!

Great weather. The sun is shinning and my grass is green. Time to roll out Eric’s XS bar hopper for some pics. Bike is coming along steady. Rear wheel is finally spaced out along with caliper. Tank is on and we’re just ironing out his ignition and the pesky xs650 charging system. Coming up is his custom brake line, rear fender, and taillight. From there, he’s on his way.

Rusty Chop ~ 3 hours in.

So here’s the Rusty Chop about 3 hours into assembly. I was in charge of snapping photos and drinking his beers. I think I did a damn god job myself. The Rusty Chop looks good too. It’s a ’79 xs650 with a kansas customs hardtail, maxis whhitewalls, my custom chopper wiring, and a sporty tank. Unseen is a set of custom made shorty pipes and a prettt heavy duty rear fender. Those whitewalls add just the right touch of bling to this rusty rocket. Check back daily. More chopper blog to come.
